About the Programme
Summer Sustainability, Climate & ENvironmental Education
Oxford Smith School is proud to launch its low-carbon summer school programme!
The course aims to guide and encourage a youth and early career audience from the Global South to engage with sustainability policy. After exploring a range of sustainability topics, you will be guided to develop a policy recommendation for world leaders, to be published at the end of the course. In a live webinar format, it provides an opportunity for participants to network in the sustainability space with peers from other Global South nations, student facilitators on current Oxford MSc courses, and learn from Oxford faculty and other experts in this field.
Course Dates
The course takes place online Monday to Friday over two weeks:
Monday 1 July to Friday 12 July 2024
A commitment to 100% attendance is expected to participate in the course.
Course Details
The course will develop participants’ understanding of a range of taught sustainability topics with a view to critiquing and writing an impactful group policy recommendation with relevance to:
- A specific local issue or
- An issue faced in common across the participants’ Global South nations or
- A UK government policy that is currently out for consultation
Participants
There are 50 course places exclusively for graduate students and early career professionals:
- from the Global South
- who have an interest in policy development; or
- have started their career in the third sector
Applications are encouraged from a range of existing skills, interest and expertise, including those who would like to transition into sustainability policy development as a career.
